USDA Female Farmer Discrimination Information

USDA Female Farmer Discrimination Investigation

Seeking Justice on behalf of Female Farmers

The Strom Law Firm, LLC is investigating claims on behalf of female farmers who were discriminated against in the administration of loans by the United State Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency. We believe that there are a number of female farmers who have not received their fair portion of the USDA loan money available.

If you are a female or a family member of a female who:

  • farmed from 1981 to 1996 and October 19, 1998 to the present, and
  • were not provided a loan application, denied an initial farm loan, or provided a loan and you feel that you did not receive the servicing normally provided to other borrowers,

you may be entitled to relief.

On December 10, 2009, Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) introduced the Equality for Women Farmers Act, which would force the government to resolve its discrimination claims. Female farmers, many of whom live in Texas, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, South Carolina, North Carolina, Missouri, Minnesota, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio, Michigan, Oregon, Washington and New York must act quickly to ensure that their rights are protected.

In 2001, the Love v. Johannes case was filed against the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) alleging gender discrimination in the administration of USDA farm loan programs through their denial of loans to female farmers. We believe that many women were forced to give up farming because they were unable to obtain loans and that they should be compensated for their losses.

Settlement negations with the government are ongoing.

If you or a family member farmed, or attempted to farm in the past, please contact the farmer discrimination attorneys at the Strom Law Firm, LLC, for a free review of the facts of your case.

If we determine that your claim is a valid case, we will represent the female farmer or her family on a contingency fee basis, and you will not be charged any fees if we are unable to recover for you.
