Bakari Sellers Recognized in Time Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40

We are very proud to announce that our own Bakari Sellers has been recognized in  recognized in Time Magazine’s Top 40 under 40 and deemed a rising star in American Politics.

A native of Bamberg, South Carolina, Bakari was mentioned for his service as the youngest member of the South Carolina General Assembly. He was elected to serve South Carolina’s 90th district, which covers Bamberg, Barnwell, and Orangeburg in 2006, at the age of 22.

When he was elected at age 22, Sellers became the youngest member of the South Carolina General Assembly.

Sellers graduated from Morehouse College in 2005 and obtained his law degree at the University of South Carolina in 2008. He just turned 26 in September.

When asked about the most overlooked issue facing America these days, Bakari responded to Time Magazine by saying,

I think it’s the issue of my generation, and it’s not race any longer: It’s the haves versus the have-nots. Until we address that growing divide, whether it be narrowing the socio-economic divide, narrowing the technological gap or just making sure that everyone is healthy, we will continue to not see the progress that we want in the country.

Bakari has worked from Strom Law Firm, LLC since 2007 and devotes his time as an attorney to criminal cases, personal injury cases, business development and municipal finance matters, as well as civil rights violations including matters brought under 18 USC 1983 alleging a deprivation of prisoner rights.

We are proud of Bakari and his efforts to advance the rights of Americans in South Carolina and beyond and extend a sincere congratulations to everyone named a civic leader in Time Magazine’s top 40 under 40.
