Bobby Brown’s Wife Doing Great After Seizure Related to Diabetes, but Not From Actos

Diabetes

Over Labor Day Weekend, Alicia Etheredge-Brown, the wife of singer Bobby Brown, was hospitalized after a seizure. According to reports, her collapse was related to diabetes, which she was diagnosed with while pregnant with their son Cassius.

Her collapse was not reported to be related to any medications she is on, and she is not reported to be on any dangerous drugs like Actos or Avandia.diabetes

The night of her hospitalization, Brown was able to perform his scheduled concern. He tweeted, “The report that my wife was rushed to the hospital is true. She is recovering and is in good spirits and doing well. Please keep my family in your prayers.”

Alicia is now out of the hospital and doing fine, according to reports. The couple was seen leaving Landry’s Steakhouse in Florida together, along with their son.

Alicia’s health scare highlights the dangers of diabetes. While no reports have specified the type of diabetes she suffers from, Type 2 diabetes is an epidemic in much of the developed world. Thirty-five percent of adults in the United States have BMI’s equal to or over 30 – that’s about 78 million people. According to Wikipedia, Type 2 diabetes can increase the risk of heart disease, kidney failure, blindness, and lower-limb amputations. Type 2 diabetes has many causes, but the strongest are being overweight or obese, and genetics.

Because of the increase in Type 2 diabetes worldwide, doctors and drug manufacturers are desperately trying to find a way to treat the disease and halt its progress. Recently, several drugs have been developed to treat patients who already have Type 2, including Actos and Avandia. However, these two drugs in particular have come under heavy fire in recent years because of their dangerous side effects. Avandia was linked to an increased risk of heart disease, which forced doctors to prescribe Actos as a  treatment, but studies conducted in the last two years show a close link between taking Actos and an increased risk of developing bladder cancer.

While Alicia Etheredge-Brown is doing well, many patients with diabetes are not. If you or a loved one have Type 2 , were prescribed Actos, and have since developed bladder cancer, diabetic macular edema, heart disease, or liver failure, you may be entitled to compensation.
