Brown Estate Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit for Bobbi Kristina

Bobbi Kristina Brown’s Estate Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit Against Partner

The administrator for Bobbi Kristina Brown’s estate has officially filed a wrongful death lawsuit against her partner, Nick Gordon.

The wrongful death lawsuit was filed on Friday, August 7th, and states that Gordon gave the 22-year-old daughter of Whitney Houston a “toxic cocktail,” which knocked her out, then left her face-down in a bathtub in her suburban Atlanta home.

Brown was found unconscious on January 31st, and rushed to the hospital. After receiving treatment, she was placed in hospice until her death on July 26th.

The initial autopsy did not reveal any specific cause of death, and the medical examiner’s office said it could take weeks to rule out a specific manner and cause of death. In the meantime, the district attorney’s office said it would review the investigation file, but Gordon does not currently face criminal charges.

Bedelia C. Hargrove, Brown’s court-appointed conservator, filed the wrongful death case as an amendment to a June filing that accused Gordon of domestic abuse and stealing money from Brown.

“I have filed today an amended complaint against Nicholas Gordon adding a count for wrongful death and for pain and suffering, filed in the amended complaint. We will leave no stone unturned in seeking justice for Bobbi Kristina Brown,” Hargrove said in a statement to PEOPLE Magazine. She added, “I am deeply saddened by the recent death … I extend my sincerest condolences to all of her family.”

The complaint states that Gordon arrived at Brown’s home around 6 AM on January 31st, after “being out all-night on a cocaine and drinking binge.” Surveillance footage suggests that Brown and Gordon “became embroiled in a loud argument” that ended in the master bedroom.

“Defendant screamed at Bobbi Kristina accusing her of cheating, going so far as to call her a “whore,” a “bitch,” and other names,” the wrongful death documents allege, according to PEOPLE. “The argument lasted for about thirty minutes and then everything abruptly became quiet.”

Gordon then allegedly gave Brown a cocktail that knocked her out, placed her face down in a bathtub of cold water, and left the house wearing different clothes. A guest of Brown’s who was staying in the townhouse at the time reportedly saw Gordon in different clothes and stated that he “laid his head on [her] ankle and stated, ‘Now I wanted a pretty little girl like you.’”

Fifteen minutes later, another guest in the townhouse went to check on Brown and found her unconscious in the bathtub. The guest reported that Brown’s mouth appeared swollen and she had a tooth “hanging loosely from her mouth.” The guests attempted resuscitation, while Gordon reportedly let the water out of the bathtub and began shouting, “Clean up, clean up.”

Gordon’s legal team issued the following statement regarding the wrongful death lawsuit: “The recent lawsuit against Nick is slanderous and meritless. Nick has been heartbroken and destroyed over the loss of his love and it’s shameful that such baseless allegations have been presented publicly. Nick has engaged civil counsel and intends to defend the lawsuit vigorously and expose it for what it is: a fictitious assault against the person who loved Krissy most.”
