Bruce Jenner Faces Wrongful Death Car Accident Lawsuit

Bruce Jenner Named Defendant in Wrongful Death Car Accident Lawsuit

The stepchildren of a woman killed in a car accident involving Bruce Jenner have filed a wrongful death car accident lawsuit against the former Olympian, alleging negligence and reckless endangerment.

The car accident victim was Kim Howe, 69, and her stepchildren William Howe and Dana Redmond filed the wrongful death lawsuit against Jenner on Friday, May 1st, in Los Angeles Superior Court. They allege Jenner caused them to suffer “enormous damage and losses,” because Jenner “violated the rules of the road” and was “negligent, careless and reckless.”

On February 7th, Howe was driving her Lexus along the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, when the Toyota Prius in front of her came to a sudden stop. Jenner, who was driving behind Howe in his Cadillac Escalade, hit Howe’s vehicle, causing her vehicle to turn into oncoming traffic where she was hit head-on by a Hummer.

The two plaintiffs have filed for unspecified damages, alleging that they not only have had to suffer financial losses related to the car accident, but have also lost “love and affection” as a result of Howe’s wrongful death car accident lawsuit.

In contrast to the Howe family’s complaint against Jenner, the attorney for the Prius’s driver says his client was actually hit by Jenner, not by Howe. The Los Angeles police department is still investigating the car accident, but some witnesses on the scene say that Jenner clearly did not cause the accident.

“So far, no one has accepted responsibility for the collision that resulted in Ms. Howe’s death,” their attorneys said. “Her children feel an obligation to bring the truth to light and seek justice for Ms. Howe. This lawsuit is the only tool at their disposal that gives them the ability to do so.”

Photos of and before the accident show Jenner holding something in his hand, suggesting that he was committing distracted driving, a common cause of serious car accidents across the country. Most states, including California, have strict laws against distracted driving, so Jenner could face criminal charges along with his wrongful death car accident lawsuit in civil court.

He was also towing a dune buggy, according to photos of the accident, so the weight and unwieldiness of that vehicle could have prevented Jenner from coming to a complete stop.

Wrongful Death Car Accident Lawsuits in South Carolina

Car accidents are rarely simple, but because of high speeds and large weight of many vehicles on the road, these accidents can too often be fatal. South Carolina has some of the most dangerous roads and drivers in the country, so many residents are unfortunately likely to be involved in a car accident of some kind.

As the number of distracted drivers with smart phones or cell phones increases, this adds to the problem of serious car accidents. If your loved one has been killed because of a car accident, you may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit to seek justice for yourself and your family.
