General Motors is issuing a recall affecting approximately 6,159 of their vehicles. The vehicles affected include Chevrolet Express, Suburban, GMC Savanna, and Yukon XL Heavy duty vehicles. The recall is due to a steering defect. The recall notice states the steering gear pitman shaft in certain 2012 vehicleys may have been inadequately hardened and could fracture. The fracturing could cause a loss of steering control and loss of control of the vehicle resulting in catastrophic or fatal accidents.
