Drunk Driving Accident Claims The Lives of Two

As reported by WIS TV, a drunk driving accident early Sunday morning near Five Points claimed the lives of two young Allen University students, Candice Davis, 18 of Eutawville, and Gerry Blanding, 20 of Greenville, when a 2004 Dodge Ram driven by Jabari O. Harding collided with a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina in which Davis and Blanding were passengers.

Columbia Police Department, Columbia Fire Department, and Richland County EMS responded to the corner of Gervais and Harden Streets just before 1:30 am Sunday.

A third passenger in the Lumina was transported to Palmetto Health Richland and is in critical condition.

The drivers of both vehicles were transported to Palmetto Health Richland in stable condition, and both were released from the hospital Sunday.

Harding has been charged with felony DUI resulting in death. He is currently being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
