GM Recalling 250k Vehicles Due to Risk of Vehicle Fire

General Motors is recalling 249,260 of their vehicles due to a potVehicle Fireential for a vehicle fire.

The General Motors’ vehicles affected include:

  • 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT
  • 2006 GMC Envoy XL
  • 2006 and 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer
  • 2006 and 2007 GMC Envoy
  • Buick Rainier
  • SAAB 9-7x
  • Isuzu Ascender

The recall notice states a short in the power door lock and power window switch may cause the devices to function intermittently or become inoperative. The short may also cause the device to overheat. Overheating of the device can cause components in the door module to melt and produce an odor, smoke, or potentially a vehicle fire.

General Motors has not currently released a recall schedule or a recall remedy. Once a recall schedule or remedy is released dealers will contact vehicle owners with instructions on how to fix the defect.
