Groupon Offers Vouchers to Customers

If you purchased a Groupon between the dates of Nov. 1, 2008 and Dec. 1, 2011 and did not use it, you may be eligible for a refund due to a class-action lawsuit.

The Chicago-based Groupon  informed subscribers via email on Friday of the potential refund program after a class-action lawsuit was brought against the company.

The class-action lawsuit claims the company had unlawful or undisclosed expiration dates and restrictions on their deals. Groupon is now offering refunds in the form of vouchers which are redeemable at with the merchant at the original location of the deal. If the merchant denies to honor the voucher or if the merchant has since gone out business, a second claim can be filed and a refund check may be issued.

The class-action settlement has yet to be fully approved. A hearing to determine if the settlement becomes final and the refund program is thus enacted is scheduled for July 20.

Consumer’s seeking a refund have until July 6th to file their claim. Groupon has established $8.5 million settlement fund for the class-action lawsuit.
