Michael Jackson’s Father Drops Wrongful Death Suit Against Murray

Michael Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, has dropped the wrongful death lawsuit against Conrad Murray, the doctor who was convicted last year for involuntary manslaughter.

Just one year after the King of Pop’s death, the elder Jackson filed a suit against Murray, which was dismissed from federal court. Jackson then filed the suit again in the state court of Los Angeles.

One of Jackson’s claims in the suit was that Murray lied to doctors about the amount of propofol he was administering, and that he did not keep adequate medical records. Propofol is a powerful anesthetic.

Last year, Murray was found to have been negligent in his administration of the drug, and is currently serving a jail sentence.

Jackson filed his request for dismissal on Monday, August 13th. The records do not state Jackson’s reasoning, although two of the attorneys handling his case were recently ruled ineligible to practice in California.

Katherine Jackson, Michael Jackson’s mother, is continuing her lawsuit against the concert company AEG Live, claiming that it negligently hired and supervised Murray. Her case will go to trial in April.
