Two Richland County Men Face Drug Possession Charges

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department has arrested two men after a routine traffic stop. One man was arrested for possession of marijuana, and the other on outstanding warrants.

According to officials from the department, Travis Pickett, 32 years old, was charged with multiple possession of marijuana, and for driving with an expired South Carolina tag. Patrol officers spotted the expired tag, and pulled the car over. When they did, they noticed the strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Pickett admitted to possessing marijuana, and said he swallowed some of it as well when the cops pulled him over.

Deputies called EMS to make sure Pickett was ok.

Pickett’s passenger was also arrested, due to outstanding warrants for failure to pay child support,

Both driver and passenger were transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. There is no official word yet if they have a bond hearing.
