South Carolina man faces SC Criminal Law after attacking girlfriend, dog

SC Criminal ChargesA man arrested in Myrtle Beach, SC, faces SC Criminal Law for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend. He is also accused of throwing her dog against a wall. Police arrested the man Sunday in Myrtle Beach.

23-year-old Randy Joseph Thompson was charged with criminal domestic violence, mistreatment of animals, and hindering arrest.  According to the police report, officers were called to the Super 8 Motel at 2450 South US Highway 17, just after 2 a.m. Sunday morning.  There, they spoke to a 30-year-old woman, who claimed that her boyfriend, Mr. Thompson, had violated SC criminal law by attacking her.

The victim claimed that she and Thompson had argued, but had resolved the argument before going out to a bar in the area.  When they returned from the bar, she was still angry with Thompson.  Thompson, upon realizing she was still angry, began arguing with her again.

The victim claimed that Thompson then cornered her, shoved her against the wall, hitting her head again.

Acting in further violation of SC criminal law, Thompson then left the room with her dog.  The victim chased him down the stairwell, and when she tried to get her dog back, Thompson allegedly threw the dog into the wall.  In response to his throwing the dog, the victim slapped him on his arm, at which point he pushed her again, hitting her head a third time.

Fellow motel guests called 911 upon hearing the disturbance, and the 911 operator dispatched Officers to the scene.  Officers stated that Thompson did not cooperate with police.  Thompson does not have any prior charges for criminal domestic violence.
