Stroller Recalled Due to Amputations

A popular stroller for children made by Kolcraft was recalled by federal officials after three children suffered fingertip amputations, and two adults reported smashing their fingers in the stroller.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, around 36,000 defective strollers were sold in the United States and Canada between 2006 and 2012.

Children and adults alike have gotten their fingers caught in the opening when folding and unfolding the stroller hinge, causing serious personal injury and amputations. Manufactured in China, and sold nationwide at children’s specialty stores and online at various retailers, the strollers cost between $150 and $160, according to a statement released by the safety commission.

Consumers should immediately stop using the defected strollers and and remember it is illegal to resell a recalled consumer product, CNBC notes.

Repair kits are being made available to owners of the specific models identified.
