Suspect Escapes Courthouse by Switching Identities

D.C. Authorities searched for a man over the weekend charged with first-degree murder who they say walked out of a Washington courthouse after allegedly swapping identities with another prisoner.

David Neumann, U.S. Marshals spokesman, said officials are looking for 24-year-old James Brewer, a suspect in a fatal shooting in Washington in June.

He stated police are also still looking into how Brewer escaped Friday.

D.C. Superior Court records claim that before the suspect was called before a judge, he changed identification bracelets with a criminal arrested on a drug charge.

The suspect then was released as another person charged with possession of PCP, which is only a misdemeanor.

Brewer is described as a black man, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, about 180 pounds with dreadlocks.

He, is considered armed and dangerous.
