Tony Parker Files $20M Personal Injury Lawsuit Against Nightclub

A NYC nightclub is firing back after receiving a $20 million personal injury lawsuit from basketball player Tony Parker.

The personal injury lawsuit stems from a now infamous fight between rappers Chris Brown and Drake.

Personal Injury Lawsuit

According to TMZ, Parker, who currently plays for the San Antonio Spurs, filed the lawsuit in June in NY Supreme Court against W.i.P. Nightclubs. In the lawsuit, Parker alleges the nightclub’s security was negligent in allowing the brawl to happen.

During the fight, a beer bottle went flying causing shards of glass to strike Parker and cut his cornea.

The lawsuit alleges club management knew there was “bad blood between Drake and Brown,” and never should have allowed both rappers to enter. The lawsuit also alleges the nightclub continued to sell alcohol to patrons involved in the brawl despite signs of the patrons being “visibly intoxicated”.

Tony Parker initially feared the injuries he sustained would affect his NBA career, as well as, his performance in the Olympics with the French national basketball team. He later issued a statement regarding his injuries saying, “The cornea has been touched. I can’t do anything for seven days. But I was lucky. The injury won’t prevent me from competing in the Olympics in any way.”

Parker is also currently in the middle of a $50 million contract with the Spurs.

The Club’s Response

W.i.P. nightclub responded to Parker’s personal injury lawsuit and denied any culpability.

The club said they are not responsible for keeping personal tabs on their patrons; therefore, they have no responsibility to know about the “bad blood” between Brown and Drake. The club also denied Parker’s other allegation of continuing to serve intoxicated patrons.

W.i.P is hoping a judge will throw out the lawsuit.
