Trial lawyers get new name, new faces

South Carolina Association for Justice

South Carolina Association for Justice
You may not have heard, but the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association announced at the annual convention in Hilton Head over the weekend that they have a new name. Now called the South Carolina Association for Justice, the name change is intended to reflect a new, broader mission and better represent the purpose of the organization.

And excitingly, I will be serving as the new President.

Joining me as as SCAJ Officers are President-Elect Kirk Morgan, Vice President Mark Joye, Treasurer Randy Hood, Secretary Matthew Richardson, and Editor Rod Jernigan.

Over 1,300 of South Carolina’s attorneys are members of our organization. Our purpose is to be the state’s leading advocate to protect the rights of citizens under the law.

A little background on SCAJ if you are unfamiliar: We were founded in 1958 to not only protect the rights of the claimants and the public, but also to hold lawbreakers accountable. SCAJ also serves as a professional resource for its members, providing continuing legal education to update their skills and keep them informed of changes in the law.

This will truly be an exciting year serving as the President of such a great organization!
