South Carolina lawmaker sues Meta over teenage son’s suicide

Rock Hill State Representative Brandon Guffey has filed a wrongful death suit against Meta (Instagram and Facebook) and said its practices led to sexual extortion and his 17-year-old son’s suicide two years ago.

Strom Law Firm in Columbia, South Carolina filed the lawsuit, along with Rock Hill’s Elrod Pope Law Firm. The suit accused Meta (Facebook and Instagram) of conducting research that confirmed its practices would leave children vulnerable to predators, but then continued to target youth nonetheless.
