Robert Carradine and Wife Involved in Head-On Tractor Trailer Accident
The star of “Revenge of the Nerds” and “Lizzie Maguire,” Robert Carradine, as well as his wife Edie Mani, were reportedly involved in a head-on tractor trailer accident in Colorado on March 5th.
Both Carradine and his wife were seriously injured in the tractor trailer accident, according to reports, but there is no word so far on their condition.
The 60 year old is an actor, as well as brother to the late David Carradine.
Drugs and alcohol were not contributing factors in the tractor trailer accident, according to Colorado police. Carradine has been, however, cited with “careless driving” because he reportedly crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic and ran into the tractor trailer.
Although Carradine has, so far, been cited for causing the accident, the severity of his and his wife’s injuries shows how dangerous tractor trailer accidents can be. Another celebrity, Tracy Morgan, was involved in a terrible tractor trailer accident last June, in which his comedian friend James “Jimmy Mac” McNair died. Morgan reportedly suffers a traumatic brain injury caused by the accident, which he states in his personal injury lawsuit against Walmart was caused by an exhausted and negligent Walmart truck driver. The driver who caused the accident is currently serving jail time on criminal charges for causing the tractor trailer accident.
Tractor Trailer Accidents in South Carolina
Tractor trailers are large vehicles that can weigh upwards of 80,000 lbs. While drivers are trained to drive at specific speeds and carefully along highways where passenger vehicles could get in their blind spots, tractor trailer companies often push their employees to drive faster and for more hours than legally allowed, in order to turn a profit. This can lead to exhausted and negligent drivers, who are more likely to cause an accident.
Tractor trailers cause an average of 500,000 accidents per year, and many of those involve serious, lifelong injuries or death. If you or a loved one have been involved in an accident with a tractor trailer, you could wait for the police to file criminal charges against the driver, but you may suffer physical and emotional injuries that become apparent in the weeks or months after the accident.
Trucking companies are too often responsible for pushing their drivers to work in unsafe ways. You could file a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit against the company, so that you can get money for medical bills, lost wages, or funeral expenses.
