Three More People Arrested for Meth Lab Operation in Lexington County
The Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team arrested two men and one woman on Tuesday, March 5th, for operating a clandestine meth lab in West Columbia.
Deputies arrested 40-year-old Jerald David Chase, 27-year-old Jimmy Leon Marsh, III, and 32-year-old Betty Alice Nix for manufacturing methamphetamines, as well as possession of methamphetamines with intent to distribute.
On Tuesday, officers received a report that a meth lab was being operated on Norman Drive, which was Nix’s residence.
Early that evening, officers went to the home in West Columbia to investigate. They detected the classic, strong methamphetamine odor emanating from the residence. They searched the house, and found one glass Mason jar in a bedroom, which contained a white powdery residue, and liquid that had a cloudy appearance. The officers who searched the home also found one reaction vessel on the floor in front of the bathroom door. Officers stated that that type of vessel is typically used to manufacture meth.
The three suspects are currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center, awaiting bond hearings.
Lexington County Continues Successful Campaign of Drug Busts on Meth Labs Throughout the County
Lexington County law enforcement officers announced, last fall, that they would begin a campaign to round up criminals who manufactured and distributed drugs, especially methamphetamines. Operations began in October 2012, with at least 13 reported arrests related to meth labs in Lexington County. Throughout January, officers arrested several more suspects for operating meth labs in West Columbia and Lexington.
