Even Oscar winners and celebrity dads are not immune to DUI charges
This past weekend Oscar winning cinematographer, Robert Richardson, was arrested on suspicion of DUI. Just last week, pop singers Jessica and Ashlee Simpson’s father, Joe Simpson, faced formal charges of two counts of DUI.
Cinematographer Bombs Field Sobriety Test
Robert Richardson, award-winning cinematographer is now facing DUI charges stemming from an arrest on the night of Friday, August 18, according to law enforcement.
According to a source from TMZ, the three-time Oscar winning was driving around the Los Angeles area Friday night when stopped by law enforcement around 9:25 PM for a traffic violation. Officers smelled alcohol on Richardson’s breath and asked him to step out of the vehicle. Richardson bombed, as one source put it, field sobriety tests.
Richardson was arrested and taken to an LA jail and blew twice the legal limit. He spent the night in jail.

Famous Father Goes to the Slammer
Another celebrity is finding himself in the same boat as Robert Richardson.
Joe Simpson, father of pop stars and reality television stars, Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, was busted on August 4 for DUI in San Fernando Valley, Calif. According to TMZ, Joes stopped at a sobriety checkpoint on Ventura Blvd and,
One source told PEOPLE Magazine, “He had a couple of glasses of wine at dinner with his wife. They were driving home and went through a check point a few blocks from the restaurant. “ during the checkpoint, Joe Simpson blew a .12, which is above California’s legal limit of .08.
The source continued by saying, “He took a breathalyzer voluntarily thinking nothing of it. He was surprised to know that he was over the limit. He learned an important lesson from it all.”
If convicted of the DUI charges, Joe Simpson could face $1,000 fine and six months of jail time.
Joe Simpson spent the night in jail following his arrest.
His arraignment is on August 30 in LA.
