USC again one of the Top 20 Party Schools in the US

Is your child’s college one of the Top 20 party schools? Are you worried about them partying while they are at school?

If your child is a student at the University of South Carolina, they’re matriculating at a Top 20 party school. For the second straight year, Princeton Review has ranked the University of South Carolina among the top 20 party schools.  West Virginia tops this year’s “party” school list with Morgantown’s West Virginia University. Officials from West Virginia University do not seem too fond of their new title. WVU officials released a statement stating the study and ranking “has no real credibility”.

Top 20 Party Schools

Last year’s number one party school was Ohio University. The University of South Carolina came in at number 17 on the list, up three spots from last year’s number 20 ranking.

The Princeton Review, responsible for the Top 20 Party School survey, is known for their test-prep, tutoring and other student services. Each year they rank schools the top “party” schools and the top “sober” schools. The ranking, based on student questionnaires tracking the time students spend studying outside of class, how often students use drugs or alcohol on campus, and how popular fraternities and sororities are on campus.

Party Schools vs “Stone Cold Sober Schools”

This year’s number one “stone cold sober” school is BYU which has topped the “stone cold sober” list for the past 15 years. BYU, or Brigham Young University, is located in Provo, UT.

  5. University of Georgia located in Athens

  9. Miami University of Ohio located in Oxford
  10. Syracuse University located in Syracuse, NY
  11. Penn State University located in University Park, PA
  12. DePauw University located in Greencastle, IN
