The Chicago Tribune is reporting that over the weekend, 56-year-old Arturo Montesdeoca of Chicago got into a fight with his 60-year-old wife Dawn.  They started yelling at each other, then the domestic dispute escalated and became physical.

Dawn grabbed a box of cupcakes and viciously started throwing them at her husband, one-by-one.  As she pelted him with cupcakes, he called the police.

When authorities got there, Arturo told them he was scared for his safety. And when the cops saw smudges of frosting on his head and shirt, that was enough evidence for them, according to the police report.

Dawn was arrested for one misdemeanor count of Domestic Battery.

The following morning, Cook County Circuit Judge Adam D. Bourgeois Jr. ordered electronic monitoring for Mrs. Montesdeoca as well as a $10,000 bond.

According to the report, the fight began with a verbal quarrel about 7:45 p.m., but then escalated to the point where the wife started hitting her husband over the head.

The report stated Mr. Montesdeoca told officers he feared for his safety, and that his wife was verbally aggressive with officers.

Police say she did admit to throwing the cupcakes at her husband.

Records indicate that the alleged victim himself has also been arrested three times since 2003 on domestic battery charges. The charges in all three cases were later dropped.

As he left home Sunday, the victim of the cupcake assault declined to comment to reporters.
