Principal and Teacher of an Irmo, South Carolina school arrested for sexual battery of children
On February 26, 2025, authorities arrested two staff members from Green Charter School of the Midlands in Irmo, South Carolina, following allegations of sexual misconduct involving students. Teacher Sulaymaan Benoit, 32, faces eight counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly abusing three students. Principal Tina Shaw, 41, was charged with failing to report child abuse and two counts of obstruction. The arrests came after an investigation revealed that Shaw was aware of the allegations but did not report them to law enforcement. Both individuals have been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation.
