Sumter County Drug Bust Hoped to End Recruitment of 13 year olds To Sell Crack Cocaine

Last Friday, the Sumter County Sherriff’s Department arrested 23 suspects near the town of Shiloh, believed not only to be selling drugs, but recruiting 13 year olds to sell crack cocaine.

Deputies charged John and Marcus Hogan with selling crack cocaine from inside a convenience store where they worked. As part of the the Sumter County drug bust the following charges were issued:

• Andrew Butler – Distribution of Crack Cocaine, Distribution of Marijuana, 2 counts

• Laron Dickey – Distribution of Crack Cocaine 3rd offense, 8 counts

• Lee Dickey – Distribution of Crack Cocaine, Served Bench Warrant

• Roosevelt Durant – Distribution of Crack Cocaine

• Marcus Hogan – Crack Cocaine 4 counts, Distribution of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana, Unlawful storage of liquor

• John Hogan – Distribution of Crack Cocaine 5 counts, Distribution of Marijuana 2counts

• Maurice Mustafa – Crack Cocaine 3 counts, Possession of Sawed off Shotgun

• Matthew Mustafa – Distribution of Crack Cocaine 7 counts, Possession of sawed-off shotgun, Possession of Crack Cocaine

• Derrick Prince – Distribution of Crack Cocaine 8 counts

• Frederick Davis – Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

• Jimmy Singleton – Distribution of Crack Cocaine 5 counts

• Jay Thomas – Distribution of Crack Cocaine

• Desmond Washington – Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

• Terell Thomas – Distribution of Crack Cocaine 5 counts

• Rodney Fulton – Distribution of Crack Cocaine 2 counts

• Aaron Goodman – Possession of Crack Cocaine, Served Bench Warrant

• Jonathan Washington – Possession of Marijuana 2nd Offense, Served Bench Warrant

• James Goodmann – Violation of ABC Law, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

• Darcy Beard – Violation of ABC Law, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

• Shannon Melton – Violation of ABC Law, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

• James Goodman – Violation of ABC Law

• Cedric Burgess – Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

• Teresa Butterworth – Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Controlled Substance 4 counts

Area residents hope that these arrests will go a long way towards reducing drug abuse in the Shiloh community. Please note everyone charged is innocent until proven guilty.
